Josephine Hardiman (née Scullion) is a Calligrapher and Artist based in County Kildare, Ireland. Born in Cushendall, County Antrim in 1953, Josephine grew up at the edge of the Curragh in County Kildare, nurtured by a creative and artistic family.
Originally a teacher at her former school St. Conleth’s Primary School, in her hometown of Newbridge, she undertook further education at the National College of Art and Design. Josephine has been working as a professional Artist since 1989, teaching ort and calligraphy, and has created commissions tpast and present Taoisigh, Presidents of Ireland, il International Ambassadors among others.
Beginning this project in 2016, The Book of Kildare has been her primary focus since 2017, when the first ten pages of the book were exhibited at Kildare Heritage Centre during Féile Bhride. Every page of the book is drawn, painted and calligraphed by her expert hand. The launch of The Book of Kildare coincided with the celebration of Brigid 1500, in 2024.
