Sarsfields GAA Celebrating 125 Years

10.00 8.00

As pat of the club’s 125  year celebrations, Sarsfields has produced this colour booklet which not only reflects on the victories of the past but also serves as an important social commentary on the many activities which happen off the pitch.

While the playing of men’s and ladies football, hurling and camogie are the reasons behind the establishment and ongoing development of the club, many other events also play a key role in allowing the club to flourish.

We have a large membership that includes players, coaches, volunteers, referees, administrators and parents across all age groups, from four upwards. Participation on and off the pitch is vital for the club to maintain the progress it has made over the last century and a quarter. Continuing this sense of purpose and togetherness under the banner of Sarsfields makes the club a standard bearer when it comes to community organisations in county Kildare.

A lot of work has gone into the production of this booklet which has managed to capture a glimpse of how the club has grown, from its humble beginnings in 1897, to what it is today – an important sporting, cultural and community outlet for the people of Newbridge and the surrounding areas.

It is fitting to produce such a publication to mark our 12 year milestone and also record what happens at the club on a weekly basis. From the numerous photographs and stories across the generations, members can reflect on many happy memories and hopefully look forward to making many more in the future.
